NARUTO Night at Yankee Stadium: the CP-001 Yankees Chakra card explained

The NARUTO CARD GAME does not come out until Summer 2027, and the third version of its first promotional card is being handed out at a baseball game.

On August 7, 2026 Bandai posted an announcement titled NARUTO Night at Yankee Stadium. Its body copy names the event NARUTO x YANKEES GAME NIGHT and states that a NARUTO CARD GAME Chakra card featuring the Yankees logo will be distributed there on September 8, 2026.

The event

The listing gives one venue and one date:

• Yankee Stadium, One East 161st Street, Bronx, NY 10451
• September 8, 2026

That is the entire logistical footprint Bandai publishes. There is no booth, no tutorial session, no demo, no TCG+ requirement and no survey, all of which attach to the convention appearances. For anything about tickets or how the promotion is run, the announcement points readers at the New York Yankees' own promotions schedule for that date.

Worth being blunt about: Bandai does not state a quantity. It does not say the card goes to every ticket-holder, to a section, to the first n through a particular gate, or on any other basis. If you have seen a number attached to this giveaway, it was not published here.

The card

The item is listed as:

CP-001 Chakra Card -New York Yankees™ Ver.-

The description is one line: a NARUTO CARD GAME "CHAKRA Card" featuring the Yankees logo. No stats, no ability text, no artwork description beyond that. The page carries Bandai's standing disclaimer that images on the site may differ from the actual product, as it is still under development.

CP-001 is becoming a family, not a card

This is the part that matters beyond one night in the Bronx.

CP-001 is the first NARUTO CARD GAME card with a public card number, and its CP prefix sits apart from the N- numbering on the revealed gameplay cards. Three versions have now been named across Bandai's own event pages:

• CP-001 Chakra Card -Gen Con 2026 Ver.-: the world-debut version, part of the Gen Con tutorial gift set alongside a special backpack, a logo sticker and a purchase voucher for the Official Playmat
• CP-001 Chakra Card -New York Yankees™ Ver.-: September 8, 2026, Yankee Stadium
• CP-001 Chakra Card: no version suffix, listed as the tutorial-session participant gift for both New York Comic Con and PAX Aus

So within roughly six weeks of the game's first public appearance, one card number has three distinguishable printings, two of them tied to a specific event and one apparently serving as the general convention handout. That is a variant structure, and it is being established before a single retail product exists.

What Bandai still has not published

Chakra is one of the game's five card types, and every deck runs exactly five Chakra cards. See the rules guide and our Chakra card type page. Despite that, no Chakra card's text has been published, CP-001 included. We do not know whether CP-001 is tournament-legal, whether the versions differ in anything but artwork, or whether Chakra cards carry printed abilities at all.

Nor has Bandai said anything about how a promo line will be handled at launch: no reprint policy, no collector numbering scheme, no indication of whether CP cards are usable in constructed decks.

Why it is interesting anyway

Convention promos reach people who already play card games. A stadium giveaway reaches an audience that mostly does not, nine months before there is anything to buy. It is the first sign of NARUTO CARD GAME marketing aimed outside the hobby and, incidentally, the first CP-001 version most likely to end up in the hands of people with no idea what a Chakra card is.
