NARUTO CARD GAME's world debut at Gen Con 2026: what's happening on the floor

Thirteen months of trailers and press releases end this week. The NARUTO CARD GAME is being played by the public for the first time at Gen Con Indianapolis, running July 30 to August 2, 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center.

The tutorial sessions

Bandai is running free, beginner-oriented Tutorial Sessions: guided walkthroughs of the core mechanics using demo decks supplied on the spot. You do not need to own a single card. Gen Con admission is required, and session tickets were registered through the Gen Con events system from June 21.

One notable condition: the sessions are held in a closed setting with no photography, video or audio recording permitted. That is the reason no gameplay footage has surfaced despite the game being actively played, and it is worth keeping in mind when you see "leaked Gen Con gameplay" circulating. Anything claiming to be recorded from inside that room is not what it says it is.

CP-001: the first Chakra card

Everyone who completes a tutorial session receives a promotional gift set:

• CP-001 Chakra Card (Gen Con 2026 Version)
• a themed backpack
• a sticker
• a purchase ticket for the official NARUTO CARD GAME playmat

The backpack and sticker are also available to booth visitors while supplies last, but CP-001 requires playing a session.

This is quietly the most interesting item in the set. Bandai's reveal confirmed that Chakra is one of the five card types and that every deck runs exactly five, but no Chakra card's text has been published. CP-001 is the first with a public card number, and the CP prefix, distinct from the N- numbering on the revealed gameplay cards, suggests a separate promotional line.

Expect these to be the first NARUTO CARD GAME singles to appear on the secondary market, well ahead of the Summer 2027 release.

What comes after Gen Con

Gen Con is the first stop, not the only one. Bandai's pre-release tour runs:

• October 2026 to early 2027: BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27, across 11 cities
• October 8 to 11, 2026: New York Comic Con
• PAX Australia, Spiel Essen, Paris Games Week, Lucca Comics & Games: all with tutorial sessions
• January 2027: in-store tutorial sessions at local game stores
• Summer 2027: simultaneous worldwide release

The in-store phase in January is the one to watch. Convention demos reach thousands of people; a game-store rollout reaches the locals scene that determines whether a competitive TCG actually takes root.
