Five types · 57 cards in a legal deck
Card types
Bandai has named exactly five card types for the NARUTO CARD GAME, and each one occupies a fixed slot in a legal deck rather than competing for the same space. That is unusual, and it is the first thing worth understanding about deck building here: you are not choosing how many resource cards to run, because the count is already decided for you.
Quick answer
The five types are Leader, Character, EX Character, Chakra and Summon. A deck runs 1 Leader outside the deck proper, 50 main deck cards made up of Characters and EX Characters, exactly 5 Chakra and exactly 1 Summon card. Ninjutsu is not a card type — it is a Jutsu that Character cards unleash by paying a Chakra cost, printed on the card as a Support ability.

Why the split matters
Leader, Chakra and Summon are all fixed quantities, which means the only cards you genuinely choose are the 50 in your main deck — and your Leader's colour decides which of those you may pick. Chakra does not sit in the deck waiting to be drawn; all 5 start face-up and flip face-down as you spend them, so there are no resource-screw draws to build around. The single Summon card is what you rest to deploy a Character normally, once per turn, which is why EX Characters — deployed by meeting their own [Summon Requirements] rather than by using the Summon card — are how decks develop faster than one body a turn.
The counts below each type are what Bandai has actually shown. No individual Chakra or Summon card text has been published yet; where that is the case the type page says so rather than guessing.
