Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME vs Naruto Mythos TCG: which is which
Two different companies are selling two different Naruto card games under names that are almost impossible to tell apart in a search box. One of them you can buy today. The other does not exist as a product yet.
Quick answer
They are two unrelated games. Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME is announced but not on sale. Worldwide release is Summer 2027. Naruto Mythos TCG is published by Cicaboom, an Italian publisher, and has been on sale since March 2026 in Europe, the UK, Turkey and MENA. Neither is a version of the other; they share no cards, no rules and no card numbers. If you want to buy a Naruto card game right now, Mythos is the only one of the two that exists.
If you have searched for a Naruto card game in the last few months you have probably been shown both of these, side by side, with nothing explaining how they relate. They are two entirely separate games, made by two companies that have nothing to do with each other, and the fastest way to tell them apart is that only one of them can currently be bought.
The short version
Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME was announced in June 2026 and had its rules and first cards revealed on July 29, 2026. It is not on sale. Bandai's site says "Arriving in Summer 2027" and describes a simultaneous global release; its press release puts that across more than 50 regions.
NARUTO Mythos TCG is published by Cicaboom, an Italian publisher, and has been on sale since March 13, 2026. It has three announced sets, a Store Championship programme, and held its first Regional in September 2026.
They share a franchise and nothing else.

Why the names collide
Neither company is trying to be the other one, but four things make them almost indistinguishable in a search result.
Both are "Naruto" plus a generic category word. "NARUTO CARD GAME" is about as searchable as a name gets, and "Naruto Mythos TCG" resolves to the same intent. A search for either phrase pulls both.
Both use chakra. Bandai has a Chakra card type, one of its five, with exactly five per deck. Mythos gives each player a base of 5 Chakra points per round, increased by the number of characters they have in play. The word does different work in each game, but it is the first mechanic either one advertises.
Both are trading card games with organised play. Mythos runs sanctioned events; Bandai has announced a World Championship. Neither can be dismissed as "not the real one" on structure.
The domains are close. Cicaboom's official site is narutotcgmythos.com. There is also a narutomythosgame.com, which carries the footer credit "Created by HiddenLab" and links to hiddenlab.fr, not to Cicaboom. If you are looking for the publisher, product listings, rules PDFs or the store locator, narutotcgmythos.com is the site that has them.
What we deliberately do not say about Mythos
This site does not call Naruto Mythos "officially licensed," and you should notice which sites do.
The reason is narrow and factual: the Mythos site does not display a rights-holder credit line. Compare the two footers. Bandai's site prints ©Masashi Kishimoto, Scott/SHUEISHA, along with the 2002 NARUTO, 2007 SHIPPUDEN and 2017 BORUTO copyright notices. Cicaboom's pages carry no equivalent credit that we have been able to fetch. That is not evidence of anything improper. It is simply an absence, and the honest thing to do with an absence is describe it rather than fill it in.
What is verifiable: Cicaboom Srl is a real publisher in Genoa, the game has named distributors, a published rulebook, a competitive circuit and physical product on shelves. Whatever the licensing arrangement is, the game exists and people are playing it.
There is one more thing worth flagging. Mythos's set size is disputed. Our own Mythos archive records 186 cards for Set 1 (Konoha Shidō); other figures in circulation include 152, 209 to 210 and 442, and the pages we could fetch on Cicaboom's own site (including its products page) do not print a set total. We are not going to pick one and pretend it is settled. If you see a confident card count anywhere, ask which source it came from.
How the two games actually play differently
The comparison table flattens this, so it is worth spelling out, because the games are not near-substitutes.
Bandai's is a life-total duel. You bring a Leader with 15 Life, a 50-card main deck of Characters and EX Characters, five Chakra cards and one Summon. You spend Chakra by flipping it face-down, and your Leader can rest to flip it all back face-up. You win by taking the opposing Leader to zero. If you have played One Piece, Digimon or Union Arena, the skeleton will be familiar. Our rules guide covers what has been confirmed and, more usefully, the long list that has not: no turn structure, no opening hand size, no mulligan, no copy limit.
Mythos is a scored objective game. Missions come into play, you assign ninja to them, and after exactly four rounds the player with the most Mission points wins. There is no life total to grind down and no elimination. It is closer in shape to an area-control card game than to a duelling TCG. Anyone calling Mythos "basically the Bandai game early" has played neither.
Which should you buy?
Honestly: this is not a choice you get to make yet.
You cannot buy Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME. As of September 2, 2026 there is no booster set, no starter deck, no product code and no price for anything except an Official Playmat at $35 (+tax) that arrives in 2027. The only card with a public number that has physically changed hands is the CP-001 Chakra Card, given away at tutorial sessions. See every CP-001 version. Pre-order listings with full box prices are already appearing on retailer sites; Bandai has announced no such product, so treat those numbers as placeholders.
You can buy Mythos, if you are in a region it has reached. Cicaboom sells a Starter Pack, a 24-pack Display Box and a Collector Binder, and its site has a store locator and a distributor finder.
So the practical answer for most people in 2026 is: if you want to play a Naruto card game this month, Mythos is the option that exists; if you specifically want Bandai's game, the thing to do is attend a free tutorial session at a convention (the events page lists them) and wait for Summer 2027.
Buying Mythos costs you nothing in the Bandai game. There is no shared card pool, no shared numbering, no conversion. They are two hobbies that happen to have the same protagonist.
The rest of the field
Mythos and the Bandai game are not the only two things a search for "Naruto cards" will surface. There is also the original Bandai Naruto CCG (2006 to 2013, discontinued), Kayou's Chinese collectible line (in production, and by far the easiest Naruto cards to buy today), and Panini stickers going back to 2002. Is there a Naruto card game? lays out all five lines and which one a given search usually means.
For the Bandai game specifically, our card list has every revealed card with verbatim ability text, Chakra cards explains the resource type, and the reveal itself is broken down in every rule and card explained.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Naruto Mythos official?
- It is a real, commercially published trading card game. Cicaboom, an Italian publisher, sells it through named distributors, runs Store Championships and held its first Regional in September 2026. What we cannot tell you is who licensed it: the Mythos site does not display a rights-holder credit line, and this site does not describe the game as officially licensed without one. Bandai's site, by contrast, prints ©2002 MASASHI KISHIMOTO and SHUEISHA credits.
- Which one is the real Naruto card game?
- Both are real, and neither is a knock-off of the other. They are separate products from separate companies with different rules, different card types and different card numbering. The confusion is a naming problem, not a legitimacy problem. Bandai's is called the NARUTO CARD GAME and Cicaboom's is called NARUTO Mythos TCG.
- Should I buy Naruto Mythos while I wait for the Bandai game?
- You are not choosing between them, because only one is purchasable. Bandai has announced no product, no set and no price beyond a $35 (+tax) playmat, and its game does not release until Summer 2027. If you want Naruto cards to play with in 2026, Mythos is on sale, and buying it costs you nothing in the Bandai game, since the two share no cards and no rules.
