NARUTO CARD GAME review: what players who tried the demo say

Nobody can review a game that is not out until Summer 2027. Here is what people who played the demo liked, what worries them, and who they are.

Quick answer

There is no honest review of Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME yet. It does not release until Summer 2027, and what people have played is a two-deck demo whose rules and card text, participants say they were told, may still change. Early hands-on reaction, gathered here from 17 named sources checked on October 5, 2026, is mostly positive: players praise the interaction, the art and how quickly games move. Most of it also comes from creators Bandai invited to a private room at Gen Con 2026, several of whom say they were given gifts. The recurring worries are supply at launch and the board wipes in both demo decks, followed by how little can be judged from so few cards. We have not played it and give no score.

Is there a NARUTO CARD GAME review? No, and that includes this page. Bandai's game does not release until Summer 2027. What exists is a demo with two decks, Naruto and Sasuke, first played at Gen Con 2026 from July 30 to August 2.

We have not played it. This page collects what people who have played it said in public, sorted into what they agree on and what worries them, with every source linked.

Can it be reviewed yet?

No. Bandai's official site gives Summer 2027 for the worldwide release, with no month or day, and no product is on sale. WabbleTCG, Team APS, Skill Check and Atrocious TCG all say the rules and card text they saw may change. Atrocious TCG says the game is hard to judge from two demo decks, Team APS declines to call its video a full review, and GG Haven warns against jumping to conclusions. Anything titled a review today is a first impression of a demo.

Who has played it, and how

  • Public Tutorial Sessions at Gen Con. Bandai's event page describes free, ticketed sessions in a closed room with no recording. OrangeSamuraiD describes a one-hour session: a scripted game, then free play.
  • The creator room. Separate sessions for invited creators. Most of the videos below, and the TCGplayer article, come from here. Team APS, Car D. Kaizoku and Atrocious TCG list what they were given: a bag, a shirt, sleeves, a playmat and promo Chakra cards.
  • Proxies. Joy Boys and WabbleTCG played printed copies of the demo decks.

Read the praise with that in mind. Most hands-on impressions come from guests of Bandai, and the one professional write-up we found is from TCGplayer, a marketplace that sells cards. The same invited creators raised most of the criticism below. Our research on October 5, 2026 found no hands-on preview from the general games press, and Reddit could not be opened, so it is not covered.

What they liked

Interaction on both turns. Support cards set face-down can answer an attack, and the answer can itself be answered. Knapp credits those effects for demo games that stayed close to the end. Team APS and Vampyr Gaming describe response chains, and Skill Check says the interaction never slowed the game down.

Nothing to wait for. You start with all five Chakra. Atrocious TCG and TheEgman add that the demo decks held only Character and EX Character cards, so hands with nothing to play were rare.

The Leader's choice. Each turn the Leader either attacks or rests to turn Chakra face-up again. Atrocious TCG and TheEgman both single this out.

Short games. Skill Check puts a game at about 15 minutes. Shinobi Connor says most of his ran 10 to 15.

Art and theme. Knapp, Team APS and Car D. Kaizoku praise the sample cards shown in the creator room. Atrocious TCG and Shinobi Connor note the original illustration in place of anime screenshots. Skill Check and Vampyr Gaming say the effects suit the characters.

What worries them

Supply at launch. On ResetEra, Hero hopes the game is printed in enough quantity, says Gundam and One Piece are not, and doubts it will be; MANTRA expects scalpers. Car D. Kaizoku and Shinobi Connor raise the same fear, and Chill Of The Chase argues a new line is joining print capacity that is already strained.

Board wipes in both demo decks. Car D. Kaizoku and Atrocious TCG report that each deck has a Support effect that K.O.s every Character, and both compare it to Dark Hole in Yu-Gi-Oh.

Strong Support cards, thin card search. Atrocious TCG expects Support cards to decide many games and is not sure that is healthy; GG Haven felt a few effects were overtuned. TheEgman saw little card search and notes a hand of only EX Characters is possible. Shinobi Connor reports slight consistency issues, mostly with the Naruto deck.

A learning curve. Mikhal's friends who had never played Yu-Gi-Oh were less impressed. Atrocious TCG expects chains to be new ground for Pokémon and One Piece players.

Not new enough. The dismissive views come from two videos that describe no hands-on play. BaconSaver, reacting to the reveal, calls it Bandai's answer to Yu-Gi-Oh, in the card frame of every other Bandai game. Chill Of The Chase calls it a remix of ideas Bandai already uses, with the Chakra refresh as a real point of difference. On ResetEra, wwm0nkey likes the art and is mixed on the gameplay, without saying whether they played.

Where they disagree

Going first. One Joy Boys host calls going first a detriment, because the second player gets the mulligan and draws two; the other thinks aggressive decks still want it. GG Haven was taught the same mulligan rule in the creator room. Atrocious TCG describes an optional mulligan without mentioning that limit. Our rules page, transcribed from Bandai's how-to-play guide, records that only the player going second may mulligan, once. Whether that makes going first worse is opinion drawn from two demo decks.

Board wipes. Skill Check counts them as a strength, and TheEgman thinks they are needed against boards flooded with EX Characters. Car D. Kaizoku and Atrocious TCG are wary.

Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece, in their words

Mikhal, who played at Gen Con, wrote on ResetEra: "If anyone is a fan of Yugioh you'd feel right at home." Knapp lists the parallels: one normal summon a turn, special summons with conditions, and trap-style cards in the Support area. Team APS calls it a cross between Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece, and Ruxin34 likens it to older Yu-Gi-Oh. They mean it as praise. BaconSaver means it as an insult, and Car D. Kaizoku calls the comparison reductive.

The One Piece link is the Leader. Car D. Kaizoku says the similarities end about there, and Rubber City Games found the demo deeper than One Piece. Mikhal, OrangeSamuraiD and Rubber City Games each compare the Sasuke demo deck to the Doflamingo Leader from One Piece's OP01 set.

How to try it yourself

Bandai's free Tutorial Sessions continue. The October 2026 stops: New York Comic Con (October 8 to 11), PAX Aus (October 9 to 11), SPIEL Essen and Paris Games Week (both October 22 to 25), and Lucca Comics & Games (October 28 to November 1). The events calendar has every stop, BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 included, and links to registration.

How this page was put together

Every source was reopened on October 5, 2026, and channel names and dates come from each video page. What creators said was read from YouTube's auto-generated captions, which mishear words, so video content is paraphrased and the one direct quotation comes from a written post. A theme is listed only where at least two sources support it. We give no score.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Naruto card game good?
Nobody can say yet. Bandai's NARUTO CARD GAME releases in Summer 2027 and only a two-deck demo has been played. Most people who tried that demo enjoyed it and praised the interaction, the art and the short games. Most of them were also invited guests of Bandai, and several of the same people raised concerns about board wipes, strong Support cards and supply. Treat it as a promising demo, not a verdict.
Is there a Naruto card game review?
Not a real one. Videos and articles titled as reviews are first impressions of the Gen Con 2026 demo or of fan-made proxies of its two decks. The one professional write-up we found is a short first-impressions piece by TCGplayer, a card marketplace, from the Gen Con creator room. We found no hands-on preview from the general games press.
Does the Naruto card game play like Yu-Gi-Oh or like One Piece?
Players who tried the demo reach for Yu-Gi-Oh more often: one normal summon a turn, face-down Support cards that work like traps, and responses that can be answered. The Leader, the Life total and the colour-bound deck come from the family of Bandai games that includes ONE PIECE CARD GAME. Those are players' comparisons, not Bandai's description.
Where can I try the Naruto card game before release?
At Bandai's free Tutorial Sessions. Bandai's schedule lists New York Comic Con, PAX Aus, SPIEL Essen, Paris Games Week and Lucca Comics and Games in October 2026, as well as BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 from October 2026. Our events calendar links to each stop and to Bandai's registration pages.
